Subject specialist (digital practice - libraries and learning resources services)
Jisc, UK
I currently work for Jisc as a subject specialist in digital practice, with a focus on library and learning resources services. My role has a strong focus on supporting engagement with digital resources and library services among our members in higher education, further education and skills.
Current areas of interest include: staff and student/learner engagement with digital resources and library services; digital literacy and capability; open practice and open educational resources; virtual staff development and support; and the challenges of being a homeworker and working in a distributed online environment. I'm an active member of CILIP and participate regularly in events and conferences around digital resources and library services. I am on the Education subcommittee of UKSG.
After gaining my MA in Librarianship at Sheffield University I worked in research and academic libraries and found libraries to be an excellent springboard into digital learning. For many years I had a variety of roles with the Jisc Regional Support Centre for Wales, working with colleges and universities on issues ranging from exploiting digital collections to open educational resources and digital literacy. My current role draws on all these experiences and offers me the chance to make connections between the world of libraries and digital learning.
Outside work my interests include walking, cooking, folk music, art and enjoying the Gower coast where I live and work.
